Best of Summer 2025

While some startups’ founders bragged this summer on LinkedIn how they “skip European summer” to instead “build”, I easily did both: focus on building the next step in scalable quantum computing at Zurich Instruments, but also enjoy all that makes the soul rejoice: For me, that’s mostly time spent in the mountains and with my wife. Best if both :-)

Here’s the best photos I took this summer. As always, clicking on the photo will take you straight to the original. None of these photos are edited beyond what the camera controls. My secret weapon this summer is a Sony RX-100 III, a compact camera with a 1-inch sensor, whose image quality rivals (but doesn’t achieve) that of my standard Sony Alpha 6500 (APS-C). Its light weight and small size makes up for it, though: the best camera is the one you have on you! Two of the photos were taken by a GoPro.

When talking flying, I of course refer to my main hobby these days, which is paragliding. Holding my license for one year, that still makes me a beginner. Notwithstanding, there is nothing more fun - period.
